Coming off a deflating loss on the road against relegation contender Leicester City, Liverpool had its eyes on making life tough for Chelsea Women for the third time this season.

The Foxes, who are fighting for their WSL lives played with much more energy through all 90 minutes than a side that is sitting well in mid-table at the moment. If Leicester does find a way to stay up, they should thank Liverpool, having taken six points from the Merseyside team this season. You have to question the motivation of a team that has nothing to play for in the final month of the campaign.

Even though that may be accurate, Beard has always found a way to make life as difficult as possible for the west London side. The Reds have scored the second-fewest goals in the WSL this season, behind only Leicester City. Goals have never been difficult to come by against the Blues though in all competitions against Hayes’ team.

The former Chelsea Ladies manager has led the only team this campaign to have scored two or more goals against the Blues more than once. Both clubs are coming off of setbacks which could make for a highly entertaining game between two sides that want to get back on track. The focus for Chelsea Women is now completely on domestic play.
