Chelsea has taken yet another drubbing, this time at the hands of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal on Wednesday night. This makes it the 6th consecutive defeat of Frank Lampard’s new tenure as interim Blues’ boss. Frank Lampard’s men once again failed to compete and were able to convince the whole of the football world that they do not belong at this level, a truly impressive feat. An inability to pick up runners and glaring errors in team selection again saw the 2022 FA Cup finalists concede the same goal to Martin Odegaard, twice.

No one organized the defense for almost the entirety of the first half, despite the captain and vice-captain both starting the game. CFC were in disarray, and it was a really hard watch. It was a truly abysmal performance across the board, but three players prevented it from being an even more embarrassing defeat that it was. And boy was it embarrassing!

There is an argument to be made that Arrizabalaga was well positioned to tip Martin Odegaard’s shot for the first goal over the bar. However, over the whole 90 minutes, Arrizabalaga was one of the positives. He made six saves and prevented his teammates from conceding five or six goals on the night.
