Why Chelsea are taking so long to appoint Pochettino
The Pride of London explain and discuss why it is taking Chelsea Football Club’s hierarchy such a long time to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as the new Blues boss.
The CFC team finally managed to secure Frank Lampard’s maiden triumph as interim manager on Saturday. A coronation day win on the south coast did not ease Chelsea supporters’ woes or worries. What the 3-1 win over Bournemouth did, is serve as a reminder of how the mighty have fallen. Fans of the away side, who were winning at this point, called for former chairman Roman Abramovich. Along with shouts for their beloved ex-chairman, there were sarcastic and ironic chants stating: “We are staying up”. Even during a Premier League victory, these songs illustrate the faithful’s contempt at the way the west London outfit is now run under Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali.
Meanwhile the rumour mill has started up again, with no sign of damaged mechanism following winter. Many writers and experts seem to think that problems at Chels’ will be solved by more signings. Wholesale changes to personnel and a tidal wave of transfers is what got CFC into the mess they are in. Work must start with galvanising the existing decent core of players. Nevertheless, the Blues are already linked with a plethora of talent, youthful and experienced, as we anticipate the next season with a slightly nervousness.
Why it’s taking Chelsea so long to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as new boss
Appointing an appropriate head coach is now critical at Stamford Bridge. Essentially Thomas Tuchel could have stayed and would have delivered a more satisfying and less expensive campaign. Yet that was not to be.
Pochettino is the likely subsequent chief on Fulham Road. A competent and respected man, I believe the Argentine is probably the best choice at present But some people expected his arrival by now. Why is it taking so long for the ex-Tottenham Hotspur gaffer to join Chelsea?
"Mauricio Pochettino is still closing in on becoming the next Chelsea manager, football.london understands, but the process is continuing to leave fans uncertain. Frank Lampard prepares to oversee his seventh game since replacing Bruno Saltor as interim head coach against Bournemouth but it is Pochettino’s whereabouts and decision that is gaining more attention. The Argentine has held positive talks with the Blues in the past two weeks but negotiates his own contract without an agent and also has a quartet of fundamental backroom staff to bring with him. He also likes to work on their appointments first. It is making the thorough and exhaustive process of finding a third manager in 12 months for Todd Boehly-Clearlake exactly that. There is little reason to rush, either. Chelsea have nothing to play for this season and won’t be immediately replacing Lampard with Pochettino even if he was to be announcedfootball.london"
