Bournemouth 1-3 Chelsea: 4 talking points from overdue win

Chelsea finally recorded a win under the interim management of club legend Frank Lampard. It was a game where Bournemouth would probably have gotten more out of, if they were slightly better technically. The first half was not so comfortable for the away squad, and not just because it ended 1-1. The home team were gaining success down CFC’s right hand side in the first half, and that was due to a number of factors. The Blues endured a six-game losing streak going into this game, but goals from Conor Gallagher, Benoit Badiashile and Joao Felix saw them celebrate an overdue win. Noni Madueke: Complete performance

Madueke was effective down the right flank. He contributed positively in and out of possession, creating space in the middle and final third with his dribbling, while also tracking back and helping Chalobah to contain Bournemouth’s forwards. The former PSV Eindhoven winger completed an outstanding 6/9 dribbles. He was unsuccessful in all three crosses he attempted, but he was great all round.

The substitutes: Decisive

The away side deployed substitutes that positively affected the game. Raheem Sterling and Joao Felix combined for the Blues’ third goal, with the former going on a driving run and laying it off for the later to elegantly slot home to seal the win at 3-1. Ruben Loftus-Cheek did not record any goal involvement but he won 3/5 duels and completed 15/16 passes. Hakim Ziyech was by far the most impactful substitute.
