It is less than one week before the FA Cup final, and in preparation for their trip to Wembley, Chelsea take on a desperate Leicester City side.

This is the last team that Willie Kirk and Leicester City want to see as they fight for their Women’s Super League lives. Emma Hayes’ Chelsea Women are coming off of a thumping of Everton at home, brimming with confidence going into a match against a team they have combined for 24 goals in their last three meetings.

Chelsea Women have totaled seven or more goals in three straight matches against the Foxes, continuously bringing them back down to earth. In the matchup back in early December, six different CFC players combined for eight goals. Jessie Fleming, who scored and assisted Sunday evening against Everton netted two at the King Power Stadium along with Fran Kirby who was been ruled out for an extended period of time by the club last week. The December fixture marked Hayes’ 300th match at the helm of the CFC Women’s team.

Despite the history between these two sides, Kirk’s team has won two out of their last three league fixtures. The lone defeat was to Arsenal on the road where the Gunners needed a world-class strike by Frida Maanum to seal all three points. The Foxes stood their ground against a top WSL side, collecting at least five shots on target for the third consecutive match.
