Thanks to a revelatory article, The Pride of London can explain why 14 year old Charlie Holland was really in Chelsea first team training.

It would be nice, and rather inspiring for Blues fans and the squad, if the awful 2022/23 season ended on a high. That scenario could elevate confidence and quality going into preseason before another major overhaul of the roster. Frank Lampard doesn’t really deserve to have even a partial element of this campaign attributed to his career or Chelsea legacy, either. Again, the CFC icon should be thanked as opposed to insulted and criticised for his return. I don’t think any tactical approach would have worked over the last month or two with current feeling in the camp.

However, Lampard may have been praised for using the youthful and upcoming members of the Blues side more predominantly in this short tenure. Although, there was a kind of youth promotion identified within the Chelsea ranks that was misleading for some dreamers but well worth a look at.

Why 14 year old Charlie Holland was really in Chelsea first team training

On Thursday, Chels’ supporters and media alike were intrigued by the inclusion of a very young player in senior Blues training. Could a 14-year-old be on the verge of making the youngest ever Premier League appearance, setting the division on fire and saving the west Londoners’ season? No, he isn’t.

Basically, Charlie Holland, who is rated at the club, joined in with stars such as Joao Felix, Raheem Sterling, N’Golo Kante and Enzo Fernandez for an experience. The youngster is captain of the Under-14s; he led them to a recent triumph in the Albert Phelan Cup South.

Holland was just involved for the day, suggest Evening Standard. But what a day it must have been! Furthermore, the U21 and U18 outfits are ‘routinely brought into senior workouts to fill gaps and for experience’ yet were absent.
