As of earlier this month, this match became the first FA Cup final to sell out Wembley according to the FA. The environment in northwest London is bound to be something special. 90,000 fans are slated to make their way through the gates of the national stadium of England. Unlike the previous games throughout this competition’s past, the match on May 14 will feature both VAR and goal-line technology, something the WSL has been in desperate need of. The women’s game is growing at a rapid rate, and this is just another example of the continued steps forward while there is still a long way to go.

With the United men’s team making it to the final against their Manchester counterparts, the Red Devils have a chance to do something that CFC has failed to do in the last two campaigns, bring both FA Cups back to the club.

Despite it being a battle of experience vs inexperience, Skinner’s side is having a remarkable season. Barring any unforeseen circumstances in the next few weeks, United is on track to finish in the top-three of the English top-flight for the first time since promotion in 2019. Like the west London outfit, the Red Devils will be walking into Wembley filled with full belief having won their previous seven games in all competitions.

The last loss this club suffered was at Kingsmeadow. In six out of those seven contests, United has scored three or more goals. Behind one of the world’s best between the sticks Mary Earps and Maya Le Tissier in central defense, the Red Devils have allowed just 11 WSL goals, tied for the fewest conceded in the league so far.
