Chelsea 2-2 Forest: 3 Blues talking points
By Abdul Abdullahi
Chelsea drew at home to Nottingham Forest in which nothing is on the line for the Blues, but meant the world for the newly promoted, relegation fighting reds. The points were shared at Stamford Bridge this weekend and it sums up the CFC fans mood at the point, lacklustre.
Despite the hosts’ early dominance, the visitors were able to score right away. Taiwo Awoniyi headed the opening goal past Edouard Mendy, who had rushed out to meet the cross.
Chelsea had a terrible start to the game, and even though they dominated possession for the majority of the second half, the Blues had very little to show for it at the break.
Raheem Sterling scored twice in a minute to give Chelsea the lead 13 minutes into the second half as the west London team completely changed the course of the game. Awoniyi scored his second goal of the game at the back post four minutes later, but the drama was far from over. It was another case of poor defending from the home team as they failed to deal with a set-piece. They were forced to accept just one point each despite both teams’ efforts to find a late winner.
With that out of the way, Chels’ have only three games remaining from now till the end of this miserable season. All of which, CFC are tipped to lose. The remaining fixtures are Manchester City (away), Manchester United (away), and ending off with Newcastle United (home). Here are three talking points from Saturday’s bottom table clash from Chelsea 2-2 Nottingham Forest.
