A new Chelsea No.1 is required urgently

Despite getting the nod this Saturday weekend, Edouard Mendy is tipped to leave the Cobham as his contract situation still in limbo. According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea may decide to part ways with goalkeeper Edouard Mendy at the end of the current campaign. In order to keep their Champions League-winning goalkeeper for a longer period of time, the Blues are reportedly having trouble persuading him to sign a new contract. The Senegalese goalkeeper has lost his position as Stamford Bridge’s starting goalkeeper this season as both Graham Potter, who was fired as manager, and current interim manager Lampard prefer Kepa Arrizabalaga over him.

With many CFC fans questioning Kepa Arrizabalaga’s performance in recent weeks, Edouard Mendy’s performance against Nottingham Forest failed to establish himself as the Blues’ backup goalkeeper. Mendy contributed significantly to Forest’s first goal by attempting to reach a ball he was never going to reach, which gave Awoniyi an easy chance to head home. Mendy didn’t make many other obvious mistakes, but Kepa has previously criticized him for failing to deal with Forest’s aerial threat. The Blues are still prone to defensive breakdowns at the moment, regardless of who is in goal. Will one of the two leave – or maybe both? Let us know!
