In total, the east London outfit has won just five league games so far this campaign, last coming out on top all the way back on December 11 against Tottenham at Brisbane Road. Despite being all but safe, Konchesky’s side is in desperate need of a confidence boost. Only Leicester City has scored fewer goals than the Irons so far this season as just three players throughout the roster have more than one goal in the WSL.

Led by former Bayern Munich player Viviane Asseyi in the front line, Konchesky’s team has its minds set on getting back to their scoring regularity in the beginning of the campaign. In the last 810 minutes of WSL football, the Irons have scored just four goals and going up against a side that is only getting healthier in the backline, this may not be the contest for the east London side to get back on track.

Even in front of home fans, West Ham United has uphill climb to return to win column against Chelsea as season nears close

Dating back to 2018, these two teams have competed 13 times across several domestic competitions with the Blues winning 12 of them including outscoring the Irons 16-2 in the last four matches. The London rivals have never met past the month of March in a domestic season until 2023.

The league clash earlier in the campaign was tied at the end of 45 minutes at Kingsmeadow, but two goals within a five-minute span in the second half proved to be the difference for the home side. With the fewest number of shots on target in the division, the Irons are going to have to flip the script on their home field if they hope to have any chance of breaking Chelsea’s hopes of a domestic double.
