Major news on futures of Chelsea stars Silva and Sterling
The Pride of London discuss and explain recent speculation concerning the respective futures of Chelsea stars Thiago Silva and Raheem Sterling. Will the pair stay with the Blues, and would either remaining at Stamford Bridge be the best outcome?
Thinking ahead to the summer, CFC retaining Silva is a preferable outcome, in spite of his age. While keeping Sterling becomes less attractive as time goes on, in my opinion. I doubt there would be many adamant shouts from Blues supporters to ensure the former Manchester City man is on Fulham Road for 2023/24. But having Silva’s presence in any capacity feels vital at present.
Yes, I am hinting at offering the Brazil legend a coaching role upon retirement. Yet it is his on-field play that still commands respect, instructs youthful teammates and, most importantly, stops opposition attacks more often than not. Whereas Sterling always seemed a much less cultured footballer, his potency and desire compensated or corrected possibly less footballing ability. For example, I was never a fan of the ex-Liverpool man, though I understood why managers like Gareth Southgate selected him: numbers. Well, that output no longer credits the winger.
Thiago Silva and Raheem Sterling to stay at Chelsea?
Irrespective of my feelings on the Blues players, there appears to be some closure concerning the next move in the pair’s undecided and pending respective careers. Sterling is reportedly “determined” to stay at the Bridge. I imagine he is aware that none of the other ‘big six’ outfits would touch him with a bargepole anymore. Well, maybe as an underpaid Tottenham Hotspur or Newcastle United understudy, which won’t happen.
However, there is ostensibly good news from the Silva camp. His wife, Belle, insists that the centreback is staying at Chels‘. She revealed that they and their extended family are happy in London and with the club.
