The day we’ve all been waiting for is nearly here; the conclusion of this wretched season is finally on the horizon.

A final pummelling at the hands of Newcastle United is the only thing standing between Chelsea and some much-needed reprieve. And while a positive result might sound far-fetched considering the contrasting states of both teams, Blues fans will certainly be hoping for a bit of light at the end of a catastrophic campaign.

CFC’s fixture against the Magpies will be contested at Stamford Bridge, offering Newcastle a chance to do the double over the Blues having won the first game at St James’ Park in dominant fashion. With this being an awful season’s final game in front of a dejected home crowd, Frank Lampard’s side will at least be expected to put up a fight. But if their comprehensive defeat against Manchester United serves as any indication, this will be easier said than done.

The Blues folded like a pack of cards at Old Trafford, with the team’s lack of cohesion, absence of tactical nous and complete non-existence of any sort of synergy all being exposed ruthlessly by the Red Devils. In Newcastle, Chelsea will face an even superior team, one that has been lauded for its athleticism and tenacity.

And as such, the question beckons; How will the Blues cope? Well, dropping these 3 players ought to be a good starting point for Frank Lampard.
