Mason Mount – (4/10)

It has been a rough season for Mason Mount from start to finish. Initially a consistent starter and a two-time Chelsea Player of the Year, Mount lost his ability to make an impact in the attack this season. His once-reliable chance creation ability and scoring output massively declined leading to the loss of his starting spot in the middle of the season.

He made a few appearances off the bench before a recurring pelvic injury sidelined him for numerous matches and eventually the rest of the season. In the Premier League, Mount managed only three goals and two assists, compared to his impressive tally of 11 goals and 10 assists last season.

His underwhelming performances this season have sparked debates about his contract extension and whether Chelsea should cash in on him while he still holds value or trust in him to deliver on the promise of being CFC’s future.  Currently, it appears more likely that Mount will depart, but despite his struggles this season, a player of undeniable talent is still in there.

Ruben Loftus Cheek (6/10)

Ruben Loftus Cheek is an interesting player to rate as he’s probably featured more as a makeshift right wingback this season than in his natural central midfield role. When he has played, he’s delivered decent performances, never really standing out but doing enough to get the job done. Loftus Cheek is far from his prime as a graceful physical presence on the ball that could seamlessly link up with the attack during the Maurizio Sarri era but has served as a more than capable squad player this season.
