Chelsea’s attack was abysmal last season as the Blues lacked a potent forward up top. The Blues need to remodel their attack and bring in a lethal striker to lead the attack. However, Chelsea will first look to offload attackers to make space and generate funds.

Chelsea spent over £150 million last season on Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. While Sterling has been effective in most part of the season, Mudryk has still not fired as expected. He has not had a consistent run in the team as Graham Potter and Frank Lampard constantly tinkered the side. Madueke has shown a bit of spark and looked impressive during the business end of the campaign but his talents be harnessed in a better way.

Chelsea’s attack comprises of Sterling, Madueke, Mudryk, Aubameyang, Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, David Datro Fofana and Armando Broja. Romelu Lukaku and Callum Hudson-Odoi spent the last season on loan at Inter Milan and Bayer Leverkusen respectively. Havertz to Real Madrid is expected to get completed soon. With more attacking incomings on the way, CFC will prefer to offload some of the players who have slipped down the pecking order or are not in Chelsea’s plans.

4 attackers Chelsea could sell in the summer

Hakim Ziyech

The Moroccan joined Chelsea in 2020 but has failed to nail down a starting spot in the team. Ziyech has amassed 107 appearances, where he has netted 14 goals and assisted another 13. The numbers are nowhere close to impressive and given the abundance of options on the right flank, CFC will offload Ziyech this summer. PSG tried to sign him in January, with Ziyech also flying to Paris on deadline day, only for the deal to collapse as the Blues send the wrong documents.

As per Daily Mail, the Blues are seeking £15 million for Ziyech which could be an absolute bargain for the skill set he brings to the table. Sadly, it hasn’t worked between Chelsea and Ziyech and selling him now will be a win-win for all parties.

Christian Pulisic

Pulisic joined CFC in 2019 as one of the most promising youngsters in the world with a high ceiling. The American has sadly failed to unlock his full potential at Stamford Bridge and has been bogged down by injuries. On average, Pulisic has missed around 10 games per season because of injuries.

The 2022-23 season saw Pulisic make just eight Premier League starts and a total of 24 league appearances. Then manager Potter chopped and changed the lineup which barred Pulisic from having an extended run in the team. CFC will happily take £25 million for the American, taking a major loss on the £58 million paid to Borussia Dortmund in 2019.

Romelu Lukaku

CFC broke the bank in 2021, signing Lukaku for £97.5 million from Inter Milan. The Belgian has failed to justify the monumental investment and was sent out on loan last summer back to Inter Milan. Lukaku didn’t hit the same numbers as he did during his first spell at Inter as injuries plagued him but he has come clutch towards the end of the season.

The 30 year old wants to stay at Inter and has no desire to return to Stamford Bridge. His market value is around £35 million as per Transfermarkt and CFC should look to get a deal in that region. Perhaps, a player swap could be arranged where CFC target Andre Onana could move towards Chelsea and Lukaku could join Inter on permanent basis.

Callum Hudson-Odoi

When Hudson-Odoi broke onto the scene, he was regarded as one of the brightest young talents that England would have. The winger was regularly used by Lampard during his first spell as CFC boss but Hudson-Odoi’s numbers and form took a sharp dip under Thomas Tuchel. The Englishman started to struggle with injuries which took a toll on his game too.

He was handed a lifeline last summer with a loan move to Bayer Leverkusen but Hudson-Odoi failed to make the most of this opportunity. With a plethora of wide attacking options available, Hudson-Odoi will be down the pecking order and selling him to generate funds will be a sensible option. He is available for £10 million in the summer.
