According to a report, Chelsea have rejected an offer for star player Mason Mount. Another club have also pulled out of the transfer race for the England international.

Kepa Arrizabalaga is one of the few CFC players who can hold their heads high following a turbulent and tumultuous term. Few other Blues cannot be criticised, impressed The Pride of London somewhat, did OK, or made their names. Benoit Badiashile, Ben Chilwell and Lewis Hall are examples. I don’t believe Mount was particularly impressive, which is rather obvious due to his previously high standard and standing.

However, to what extent Mount’s protracted contract negotiations affected his Chels’ performances is up for debate. We shall never know the true impact, unless the CFC Academy graduate reveals all at some stage. Then there were injuries which derailed any possible progress. The entire unit failed to gel in 2022/23, so I am unsure that the 24-year-old would have ever really gathered momentum just like his flailing teammates.

Liverpool reportedly withdraw from Mason Mount transfer chase whilst Chelsea turn down Manchester United

As Mount’s deal expires in one year and his profile falls because he hasn’t been displaying his true quality, the west London team are considering allowing him to leave. Man United are said to be in talks with Chelsea over the midfield man. Although the Red Devils’ £40million offer for the Champions League winner has been rejected by CFC.

Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth says that the low seeming bid was ‘immediately’ refused by Stamford Bridge bosses. Valuations are apparently vastly dissimilar; the northern English team would extract themselves from any unreasonable appearing business

Meanwhile Liverpool have supposedly changed their mind over potentially signing Mount. The £80m quoted asking price probably deterred the Reds. The Anfield outfit recently signed midfielder Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion for a relatively cheap fee.
