Spurs chairman has no intention of dealing with Chelsea for star signing
Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy reportedly has no intention of dealing with Chelsea regarding the prospective signing of Harry Kane.
Tottenham won’t deal with the Blues. What else is new?! This time England captain Kane is the subject of dismissed interest, so the story says. Chelsea supposedly contacted Spurs regarding the possibility of a reunion between Mauricio Pochettino and the No.9; the pair were together with the north London team.
But there won’t be an agreement, according to The Athletic. Levy will not entertain English Premier League clubs who target Kane. Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also tracking the coveted striker.
Chelsea prepared to allow underperforming defender to leave club
I must hold my hands up here, Blues fans, I expected Marc Cucurella to succeed at Chelsea. I even thought the Spain international might supersede Ben Chilwell; I was not fully convinced with the former Leicester City man’s toughness and quality, though he has generally proven me wrong. Well, Pochettino doesn’t seem to like what he’s seen of the ex-Brighton & Hove Albion wingback/centreback, either. Pochettino is prepared to let Cucurella exit the west London outfit. I am thoroughly unsurprised at this.
Possibly because the 24-year-old was named Brighton’s Player of the Season in 2021/22, Chels’ were quoted and paid an inflated price to the Seagulls for his services: a reported £60million. ‘Poch’ prefers a smaller squad and aims to ‘trim’ the bloated CFC roster. That is an understatement. Balancing the books is also as vital as levelling-off personnel; hopefully Chelsea buy the right footballers in replacement this time.
Newcastle United are said to be interested in acquiring the Spaniard with Eddie Howe an apparent admirer. Although, the capital side must accept only half of what they originally paid for ‘Cucu’, due to the Magpies only offering £30m.
