Chelsea transfer roundup July 11 to July 19
May 2023 marked the one year anniversary of Clearlake Capital and Todd Boehly’s acquisition of Chelsea and that time can only be described by the word disastrous.
In a season which was impressive and historic for the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City, the latter which went on to win the treble, the Blues’ campaign was historically bad, finishing 12th in the Premier League and not going deep in any of the cup competitions. With just over 13 months in charge of CFC, and Boehly’s consortium have already had four managers and Mauricio Pochettino will be the fifth who would officially start his tenure from the July 1.
The Argentine manger already has a lot of problems to solve ranging from the trimming the bloated squad to convincing the likes of Mason Mount and young promising players to commit their futures to the club. Along with all of this, Chelsea are also looking to offload players before the end of the financial year to balance the books after their heavy spending throughout the year. With the transer window open now, I’m glad to bring back this series where we do a concrete weekly transfer roundup regarding the Blues discussing the major news and me, Roshaan giving you my personal opinion.
