Chelsea are supposedly chasing a £51million-rated centreback who could be impactful in defence. Meanwhile Kai Havertz may get a new role at a different club.
Gleison Bremer is of the style to potentially make a difference in Chelsea back line; the Brazilian might actually be the eventual replacement for fellow countryman Thiago Silva. Bremer’s assured and accomplished ball play merges well with a pugnacious approach to ball recovery.
Chels‘ are said to be interested in signing the Brazil player. Manchester United are ready to battle it out with the Blues for the acquisition.
Kai Havertz’s new club and role as Chelsea time comes to end
Havertz shall make the trip from west to north London very soon. We know this because Fabrizio Romano recently confirmed that the German is to have an Arsenal medical later in the week. The ‘formal contract’ has been sent already; once looked over, the transfer will become official.
The £65m price tag, with add-ons, is massively inflated for what Havertz has, or hasn’t, achieved in the Premier League. Romano revealed that the contract between the Germany international and Gunners is long-term.
In addition to that probable switch, reports suggest that Havertz must adapt to another position. Mikel Arteta would like the 24-year-old to replace Granit Xhaka; this idea may sound strange to some but the Switzerland National Team representative was pushed higher up the field as a No.8 or even as an attacking midfielder for AFC in 2022/23, to much success.
I believe the former Bayer Leverkusen star has far more potential to thrive in that capacity, possibly more so than the Swiss. In times gone by I recommended that Havertz be deployed in this way; clearly the soon-to-be ex-Blues man was unsuited to the demands of an EPL striker whilst lacking the requisite qualities. Martin Ødegaard and Havertz as duel No.10s is a frightening proposition if Arteta finds balance and his squad replicate last term’s energy.
