The transfer window is well underway and Chelsea has already recorded many outgoings, but just a few in-comings. It’s obvious that the Blues would like to get some key players through the door ahead of the 2023/24 season, but what is the team likely to look like if they get the perfect signings before August 31st?

Chelsea ideal lineup for 2023-24 season

Yehvann Diouf, Goalkeeper, France

Diouf is an outstanding goalkeeper that came to light last season, finishing the season with truly impressive numbers. Edouard Mendy would have been great for next season, but he’s on the verge of joining Al-Ahli, if he hasn’t signed on the dotted line yet.

This means that the Blues need to get another goalkeeper through the door, preferably one better than Kepa Arrizabalaga in several metrics, or who can compete with the Spaniard without costing a fortune. Diouf is the man. At just 6 ft. (1.84m) tall, he boasted a save percentage of 78% last season, making 3.5 saves per game according to Sofascore. In fact, Diouf alone prevented seven goals, which is outrageous for a goalkeeper over a season.

He played 31 games and kept clean sheet in 14 of them, more than Chelsea’s two starting goalkeepers combined last season. Shot-stopping is not the only thing he does well either. His ability to collect crosses is mind-boggling for someone not tall for a goalkeeper, collecting 9.3% of crosses he faced last season, a number good enough to rank him number 1 in Ligue 1.

His passing is also very good, completing 55% of his chipped passes and 49% of his long balls, both numbers are better than what linked goalkeeper Andre Onana managed in the Serie A. Diouf would be an excellent addition to Chelsea’s ranks.
