Chelsea apparently defeated the interest of Newcastle United along the way to signing wonderkid Dujuan Richards. Meanwhile, unfortunate yet underwhelming winger Christian Pulisic is open to a transfer to Lyon.
With any luck, the CFC owners and their advisors – and cronies – are taking a closer look at potential signings before making decisions. Especially at senior level, Blues recruitment failed to deliver in the past season in spite of monumental spending. Yet the areas of youth and emerging talent seem more promising at Stamford Bridge. For example, the west London club supposedly saw off the Magpies for the Dujuan Richards acquisition:
"Chelsea beat off interest from Newcastle to secure his signature. The Toon took Richards on a trial basis last season. And he is even claimed to have attended their 1-1 draw with West Ham back in February"
Christian Pulisic is open to a transfer to Lyon from Chelsea
Unsurprisingly, the skipper of United States of America is unhappy at Chelsea. And it wouldn’t take Fabrizio Romano to tell you that. Although, many Blues fans, along with writers such as myself, believe that there is a world-class player somewhere inside of Pulisic. Nevertheless the latter, like defender Trevoh Chalobah, may have to make his name at another team if he wishes to become a starter in one of Europe’s quintet of elite divisions.
Chalobah’s future is undecided, with Mauricio Pochettino presumably waiting to assess players like the Englishman. Not to mention deciding which up-and-coming stars are worth keeping, can have a squad role or may impact the starting lineup. Incoming former Brighton & Hove Albion loanee Levi Colwill is on that list. But things appear more simple for people like Pulisic.
‘Captain America’ is said to be ‘eager’ to leave the Bridge and seek a new ‘challenge’. This revelation comes as no surprise to The Pride of London. Furthermore, the £58million signing is wanted by a host of top Italian sides, as well as French Ligue 1 outfit Lyon. Pulisic is not opposed to joining the team from France. Additionally, OL think the USA man is obtainable for a cut price £17.2m deal. Apparently the wingman’s representatives offered his services to Newcastle and Manchester United.
