Manchester United already looking at Mason Mount alternatives as Chelsea talks stall
The Mason Mount transfer saga continues to rumble on. Manchester United have been keen to sign the Chelsea ace since the start of the summer transfer window. However, as things stand, the Red Devils are now also considering other transfer targets.
So far, Manchester United have already submitted three bids for Mount. The first bid that the Red Devils submitted was of £40 million which was immediately rejected by the Blues. United’s second bid was £50 million including add-ons which was again rejected by the West London outfit as CFC were adamant on their £65 million valuation.
Erik ten Hag’s side submitted their third offer of £50 million plus £5 million in add-ons. This could be the final offer that United make. Chelsea rejected the offer and countered with £58 million plus £7 million offer. MUFC’s offer is still on the table but as things stand, they are not going to improve their bid.
Manchester United seek Mason Mount alternatives as Chelsea talks stall
Personal terms with Mount have been agreed and United now need to reach a compromise with Chelsea regarding the transfer fees. However, when CFC rejected the third offer, there was some pessimism on United’s side as they do not want to pay a crazy amount of money for the England international.
Mount has now intention to sign a contract extension at Chelsea and wants to leave for United. However, CFC’s stubbornness has prompted the Red Devils to look at other options. According to ESPN, Manchester United are considering other midfield targets as talks with the Blues have stalled.
United’s offer for Mount still remains valid but they have already made enquiries for Mount alternatives. MUFC have carried out enquiries for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, who is also a priority target for Chelsea. Manchester United have also asked about Ajax attacker Mohammed Kudus and FC Utrecht’s Taylor Booth.
Chelsea are currently concentrated on outgoings. The Blues have managed to offload Mateo Kovacic, Kai Havertz, Kalidou Koulibaly, Hakim Ziyech and Edouard Mendy, freeing up a major chunk of their wage budget and giving them funds to spend. If United do pull out from Mount’s negotiations, there are other sides interested too.
Thomas Tuchel admires the 24 year old and wants to bring him to Bayern Munich. However, the Bavarians have not yet launched any offers for Mount yet. If Mount doesn’t sign a new contract, Chelsea want to sell him and generate funds that can be used to strengthen the squad.
