Chelsea transfer roundup from June 20 to June 26
The previous week has been a treat for all the Chelsea fans as they were remarkably successful in moving out players on high wages along with some transfer fees which will definitely help the club in the coming weeks in terms of securing new signings. But with all of this came the unjust uproar of pundits like Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and rival fans. Questions were raised about the ownership structure of the club and a lot of questionable things were also said about Todd Boehly by the pundits.
The double standards from pundits like Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher is embarrassing and it seems like anything the English capital club does will never settle down well with them. Leaving that apart, the much awaited transfers of Jude Bellingham was completed to Real Madrid along with the controversial decision of Kylian Mbappe to not extend his stay at Paris Saint-Germain, allowing him to leave the club for free next year. Let’s continue with another part of this weekly review of transfer news regarding the Blues who are again in the minds of everyone in the world.
1. Chelsea sell five players in a few days:
Start of the week was better than any of us CFC fans could have asked for as Fabrizio Romano in the space of a couple of days tweeted the iconic ‘here we go’ for five players. Kalidou Koulibaly has joined Al Hilal for £17 million, Hakim Ziyech is close to joining Al Nassr for £8 million with only the medicals pending, Edouard Mendy is close to joining Al Ahli for £16 million, Mateo Kovacic has joined Manchester City for £30 million and the most surprising for some of the fans is the departure of Kai Havertz to rivals Arsenal for a fee around £65 – 70 million.
The combined sales of these five players have helped the club accumulate around £150 million with sales of players like Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus Cheek and many more players still to go through. These sales have also helped the club get rid of astronomical wages from the books as the new owners are now looking to streamline the wage structure which includes players having a base wage with incentives based on player performances.
