Chelsea and Romelu Lukaku have separate futures. The Belgian arrived in the summer of 2021 for a record fee of €115 million, hoping to flourish at Stamford Bridge during his second spell. Sadly, Lukaku’s second spell was a huge failure with the player not being able to operate in Thomas Tuchel’s system.

Inter Milan came to the rescue of the striker, taking him on loan for the 2022-23 season. The loan deal did not include any option to buy but CFC hoped that the Belgian would excel and Inter would eventually discuss a permanent transfer. The 30 year old was bogged down by injuries in the first half of the season and only became a regular in the final stages of the season.

Lukaku did pick up pace in the second half of the season and ended up scoring 14 goals in 37 games. The Belgian striker has already admitted his strong affinity to Inter Milan and his desire to stay with the Nerazzurri.

Inter Milan to submit an improved offer for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku

Chelsea are looking to offload Lukaku this summer as a new striker is being eyed. Mauricio Pochettino wants a reliable and lethal striker to lead the frontline and CFC have already considered Dusan Vlahovic, Victor Osimhen and Lautaro Martinez.

Lukaku had a mouthwatering offer from Al Hilal but the former Manchester United striker rejected the idea of going to Saudi Arabia as he wanted to continue in Europe. At this point, Inter Milan look the most likely destination for Lukaku but the Serie A outfit are caught in poor economic situation.

Inter proposed a loan deal for Lukaku which was rejected by CFC as they want to offload the burly striker on a permanent basis. According to The Telegraph, the Nerazzurri are set to make another offer for Lukaku.

This time around, Inter will be proposing a loan with an option to buy for €30 million. The Blues will insist on an obligation to buy the Italians feel that they can get the deal done. Martinez has always been a target for CFC since it became clear that Pochettino was going to take over the reins at Stamford Bridge. The Argentine manager is a huge admirer of Martinez’s talent and the player would also be open to the idea of joining his compatriot at Chelsea.

Perhaps, a player plus cash deal could be agreed with the West London outfit sending cash and Lukaku to Inter and in exchange, they acquire the services of Martinez. Lukaku is also admired by Juventus and could be considered as a replacement for Vlahovic should the Serbian leave Turin.
