Chelsea have apparently agreed terms with their main transfer target as the crucial signing of Moises Caicedo nears. Now that almost all Blues midfielders have left, this prospective switch is essential. Meanwhile Mateo Kovacic has penned a farewell message to Chelsea supporters whilst leaving for treble-winners Manchester City.
Caicedo is said to be the priority incoming player at Stamford Bridge at the moment. And you can see why for two glaring reasons: firstly, the Ecuadorian is a talent, there is no doubt about that. The clubs chasing the athlete are testament to that fact. Secondly, there is an exodus of Blues at present, especially defensive midfielders. Caicedo is absolutely ideal: he’s a kind of versatile mixture of N’golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic combined with any tough tackler you can think of. The current Brighton & Hove Albion footballer will fit like a glove at CFC.
Thankfully the trusty Fabrizio Romano was on hand with the latest news on the west London team on Wednesday morning. It appears that the Blues either already have an agreement with the Ecuador international regarding personal terms, or that matter won’t be a problem. Romano also says that the side from Fulham Road will ‘attack’ the deal; this update should thrill the fan base because Caicedo is exactly what’s required for Mauricio Pochettino’s rebuild. In addition to those aspects, the Italian journalist revealed that negotiations with Brighton are never simple or swift. Though Chels’ are ‘on it’!
Mateo Kovacic writes goodbye message to Chelsea supporters before leaving for Manchester City
As previously alluded to, Kovacic is quality; he’s a natural baller with pure skill and technique. He will actually be missed at the Bridge, unlike many of the other eventual leavers. You can’t really blame the Croatian for going to Man City, in all honesty. While exiting, ‘Kova’ made the following statement to Blues fans:
"‘It’s been an incredible pleasure to play for such a great club and win some of the biggest trophies in the sport,’ he begins.‘It has been a tough 12 months for everyone, and I think we can all agree it hasn’t been to the usual Chelsea standards but I’ve enjoyed my time here in London.‘Chelsea is a club I have loved every second of being at, but the time has come for me to move on.’"
