Raheem Sterling, Forward, England

Sterling is on this list because while others can have the excuse of poor management, Sterling’s performances started dropping even when he was still under the manager that brought him in; Thomas Tuchel. Sterling’s ball carrying and space creation was poor for a long time, and he deserved to be benched even before things got really bad across the squad.

His performances picked up toward the end of the season and he ended the season with the most goal involvements for Chelsea in the league season. It would be unfair not to mention that Sterling was likely misprofiled from the get-go, and was expected to do many things he shouldn’t have been tasked with, like chance creation.

The Blues did not have, or do, many of the things that made him successful at Manchester City, and that contributed significantly to how his first season in Stamford Blue played out, as there were glaring chance creation issues that many expected the former Manchester City winger to fix.

Joao Felix, Forward, Portugal

Felix was disappointing in several ways, one of them being that his decision making was quite poor for someone advertised as a high quality forward. Watching Felix showed a player that was electric and got past players with relative ease, yet hardly ever made the right decision to create something useful out of any attacking situation.

He was phenomenal against Fulham in his first game and everyone saw what he was capable of, but that game, unfortunately, was the height of his rather short Chelsea career. It was a relatively easy decision to send him back to his club at the end of his loan.
