4. Goalkeeper situation:

With Kepa Arrizabalaga having somewhat of a resurrecting season personally, possessing one of the best save percentage in the league and Edouard Mendy completely out of form and playing second fiddle to the Spaniard, the west Londoners had to make a decision on who to sell. Edouard Mendy was more of a sellable asset due to his relatively lower wages and was shipped out to Saudi side Al Ahli for £16 million. Now questions were raised whether the club signs a new first choice goalkeeper or someone who could challenge Kepa for his spot.

Initially the Blues were interested in players like Andre Onana, Mike Maignan from Inter Milan and AC Milan respectively but were priced out in negotiations. Diogo Costa is also someone the club is interested in but his €75 million release clause could again be problematic. CFC are looking for a young goalkeeper or experienced goalkeeper to create competition as Kepa is going to be the number one. One of the names appreciated by the club is Anatoliy Trubin and Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili who can create competition for Kepa. Expect no crazy bids for a goalkeeper this transfer window.
