These nine senior Chelsea players may leave alongside Mason Mount and Cesar Azpilicueta following the former’s transfer to Premier League rivals Manchester United and the latter’s imminent exit.

Azpilicueta hasn’t quite left Stamford Bridge yet, though an announcement is imminent at the time of writing. The club captain is set to be an Atletico Madrid man next season – and good luck to ‘Dave’. Mount moved to Man United, to the dismay of some Blues supporters and the indifference of others. That’s not the last we’ve heard of Mount at the Bridge and in a ferociously competitive English top-flight, I assure you! Nonetheless, life goes on.

Nine further exits are expected after ‘Azpi’s’ departs Fulham Road. The possible departures are comprised of: Christian Pulisic, Romelu Lukaku, Ethan Ampadu, Trevoh Chalobah, Malang Sarr, Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi. Levi Colwill and Conor Gallagher do not have clear futures at the moment respectively, either.

Mason Mount thanked by Chelsea after 18-year association with club

Antonio Rudiger’s switch to Real Madrid was the first real eye-opener of the Todd Boehly era. Mount is the latest tremendously high profile CFC professional to depart the team. It is no secret that prominent footballers consider other sides more suited to their talents at present; no European competition accelerated those decisions. I wouldn’t exactly use the term ‘rats deserting a sinking ship’, although, it is going that way.

Anyway, the west London outfit thanked one of their longest serving athletes on Wednesday. That is, if you include his time at Chels’ as a youth as part of his career; nearly two decades is an awfully long alliance. The article noted the England international’s achievements as well as his Blues rise.

Meanwhile co-owners Boehly and Behdad Eghbali spoke fondly of Mount. First of all, they appreciated his efforts on and off the field of play. In addition to that, the 24-year-old was labelled a ‘consummate professional’.
