Chelsea now looking to sell £55m player as London rivals ready to sign him
Chelsea have done a stupendous job in offloading players this summer and raising a substantial amount of cash through sales. The Blues have already offloaded nine players until now and are now looking to get rid of left back Marc Cucurella.
Chelsea have so far sold – Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. N’Golo Kante and Cesar Azpilicueta have left on free transfers, meanwhile, Tiemoue Bakayoko has been released by the club. CFC are also in the process of selling Christian Pulisic as an agreement has been reached with AC Milan for the permanent transfer of the USMNT talisman.
The Blues have raised over £200 million through sales and can receive more money if the add-ons are activated. It has been barely a month since the transfer window opened and CFC have gotten straight down to business, not wasting any time in trimming the bloated squad. Having a huge squad raised a number of concerns last season and the Chelsea chiefs are determined to not have a repeat of the last season.
Chelsea looking to offload Marc Cucurella as Tottenham Hotspur interested
The West London outfit is still looking to move on a number of players from the squad. Cucurella signed for Chelsea just last summer, arriving from Brighton and Hove Albion for £55 million. The Spaniard was mightily impressive under Graham Potter at Brighton but he failed to excel under Potter at Stamford Bridge.
Cucurella was subpar for the most part of the season and Chelsea are now contemplating over his future at Stamford Bridge. According to Football Transfers, Chelsea want to offload the Spanish full back and London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are following his situation. Spurs are eyeing Cucurella as a replacement for Ivan Perisic and could offer Cucurella an exit from Stamford Bridge.
It is unclear what kind of fee will CFC seek for the 24 year old. Cucurella wants to stay at Chelsea and has started pre-season training under Mauricio Pochettino. With the Blues keen to offload the player and Spurs interested in him, things could pace up but at this point Cucurella’s intentions are clear that he wants to stay at Chelsea.
Ben Chilwell is expected to be CFC’s starting left back under Pochettino and if Cucurella is sold, Lewis Hall could be upgraded to the backup role several eye catching performances last season.
