Potential Chelsea injury worry as star Reece James sent for scan
Chelsea have received a potential injury scare because star defender Reece James has been sent for scan on another knee problem. This news is the last thing that new manager Mauricio Pochettino would like to deal with as the Blues embark on a tour of the United States of America.
The Pride of London does not want to worry Blues and James fans, as the update states that steps being taken are ‘precautionary‘ at present. And, happily, the 23-year-old ‘is expected to still be a part of CFC’s preseason tour of America’ prior to the proper campaign getting underway.
However, the fact that the versatile and highly regarded athlete made a mere 14 starts in last season’s Premier League because of so many fitness problems, is surely a concern for bosses at Stamford Bridge. He complained of pain in the knee before his teammates flew to the US.
Callum Hudson-Odoi also on Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea unwanted list
I always presumed that the Blues fan base would eventually see more of Hudson-Odoi. Well, they may do – but probably for a different team. You see, multiple CFC head coaches seem to have deemed the winger and sometimes wingback not of the standard to take a prestigious starting spot on Fulham Road. Nor, for that matter, was the 22-year-old seemingly considered good enough to be a role player at the Bridge.
That conclusion may well be accurate or correct. Nevertheless, especially at his age and with such early career training and experience, I don’t think we’ve heard the last of Hudson-Odoi in Europe’s top five divisions. And the Wandsworth, London-born man is also said to be on a list of four prominent Blues who are up for sale and are collectively not part of Poch’s plans. The remainder of the disregarded quartet consists of: Romelu Lukaku, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Hakim Ziyech.
