Chelsea have sold Christian Pulisic and want to offload Hakim Ziyech this summer. Chelsea may need reinforcements on the flanks as they run the risk of having minimal squad depth. The Blues are now considering a move for Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele.

CFC’s current wide options consist of Mykhailo Mudryk, Raheem Sterling, Noni Madueke and Ziyech. The Blues have been trying to offload Ziyech, and if the Moroccan leaves, Chelsea will be left with just three wide wingers. Christopher Nkunku can play on the left but his best position is just off the striker rather than the wing.

The West London outfit have been linked with a move for Olympique Lyon attacker Rayan Cherki. The Frenchman is considered ‘not for sale’ but CFC are ready to push and test Lyon’s resolve. Chelsea have not made a bid yet but there is indication that Cherki is open to a move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea targeting Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele

Mauricio Pochettino likes to have quick wide players in the squad and CFC are certainly eyeing a speedster in the form of Dembele. According to Football Transfers, CFC are considering a move for the Frenchman. Dembele’s contract expires in 2024 and talks are ongoing with Barcelona over contract renewal. Pochettino admires Dembele but it is unclear if the Frenchman will be open to a Premier League move.

Dembele continues to be a crucial part of Xavi’s plans. Barcelona are trying to renew his contract but CFC could entice him to Stamford Bridge with a lucrative offer. Dembele is valued at €60 million but a €50 million release clause exists in his current contract. Barcelona are hoping to extend his current deal and increase the release clause.

After initial injury hiccups and irregular form, Dembele has become a mainstay in the team, especially under Xavi. The 26 year old played 35 games last summer, scoring eight goals and assisting nine. Under Xavi, Dembele has played 66 games and has 32 goal contributions to his name.

The Blues will add pace and trickery to their right wing if they manage to sign Dembele. The Frenchman has the ability to beat his marker through bursts of pace and tricks up his sleeve. His delivery in the box has also improved which can be crucial for the front man at Chelsea. Dembele remains a name on Chelsea’s list along with a number of players but it remains to be seen when CFC launch a concrete offer for their target.
