Chelsea have managed to get their hands on another promising youngster as Angelo Gabriel has joined CFC from Santos, as per the club’s official website. Gabriel arrives from Santos after making 129 senior appearances for the Brazilian club, which is a huge feat considering he turned 18 just last December.
Gabriel became the youngest player to play in the Brazilian championship, making his debut against Fluminense aged just 15 years and 308 days. According to Fabrizio Romano, Gabriel will travel to USA with the Chelsea squad for the pre-season tour which kicks off on 19th July against Wrexham. Chelsea will likely loan him out for the season as he can gain valuable experience and play regular minutes. The move is estimated to be around £13 million.
Gabriel becomes the latest young addition after wrapping up deals for Kendry Paez, Ishe Samuels-Smith and Deigo Moreira this summer. Under Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, CFC have invested heavily in signing promising young players with high potential.
Chelsea to be one of the busier clubs in the transfer window
Chelsea have already been one of the most active clubs in the transfer window so far. The Blues have signed Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson and a quartet of youngsters. On the other hand, CFC have also regularly pushed to offload players as 10 exits have taken place. Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christian Pulisic, N’Golo Kante, Cesar Azpilicueta, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Abdul-Rahman Baba have either been sold or released by the club.
According to Express, Chelsea are still expected to be one of the busier clubs in the coming weeks. The Blues are working on the Moises Caicedo deal as discussions are taking place and CFC are in constant contact with Brighton and Hove Albion. Chelsea want to get the deal done in the region of £80 million but Brighton are demanding £100 million for the Ecuadorian.
The Blues are also working on offloading more players as they are not part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans. Striker Romelu Lukaku is wanted by Juventus and could move to Turin after Inter Milan pulled out of negotiations. The Blues are also looking to sell Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Pochettino will closely observe the Chelsea attack and take a decision over signing a striker in this window. All in all, there is plenty of business Chelsea could do in the transfer window and be one of the busiest clubs in the summer transfer window.
