Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly close to a significant decision concerning up-and-coming star Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos.
The Blues midfield department needs additions – and fast! Well, there may actually be players ready and waiting on the roster or in CFC youth teams already. One starlet awaiting or ready for promotion could be Andrey Santos. That is manager Mauricio Pochettino’s apparent consideration, anyway.
Santos, along with Cesare Casadei and Ian Maatsen, stood out against Wrexham in a friendly on Thursday. The former impressed Pochettino in the 5-0 rout. The Brazilian wants senior game-time and is considered suitable by many at Stamford Bridge. Santos may have a first team role next season.
It’s bad news for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku – or is it?!
Although Lukaku is unwanted on Fulham Road and goes down as a double big-money Premier League flop – remember his generally awful appearances for Manchester United in a pretty terrible spell? – the Belgium international’s simultaneous wish to leave Chelsea is granted. It simply didn’t work out at the Bridge for the centreforward, just like at Old Trafford. The Pride of London arrive at this view following Pochettino’s decision not to have the 30-year-old in his squad for the upcoming campaign.
The hell that was the marriage between Lukaku and the Blues has basically ended in divorce. Poch recently revealed that the footballer was not selected for CFC’s pre-season tour of the United States. In addition to that statement, the gaffer claimed that the Antwerp-born man had a ‘desire’ to depart the English capital club.
Of course, Pochettino has been mulling over many similar courses of action for athletes over the past three weeks or so. The mammoth task at Chelsea continues. The boss described Lukaku’s situation as ‘interesting’; Blues officials and the player’s representatives are reportedly working together to find a ‘solution’. PoL wish Lukaku the best in his future endeavours.
