Ownership at Chelsea have reportedly given the recruitment department the green light to attempt to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain. The Pride of London assess and offer a verdict on a possible transfer.

Talk about a potentially marquee signing. I would have to attest that signings don’t come much bigger than Kylian Mbappe in world football. In fact, few legends in the history of the game could surpass the momentous feel of a star like this switching clubs. And now the Blues are once again linked with the onetime prodigy who became an icon. While Todd Boehly would like to make an acquisition of this magnitude, can finance it and would consider the move conducive to where they want the west London outfit to be, the athlete himself is the main probable stumbling block. Unless Christopher Nkunku can convince his mate to join him, it seems unlikely.

Mbappe has been connected with a move to Real Madrid for years and is said to be more than willing to be a part of the next generation of los Blancos galacticos. Unfortunately for the fan base and the task luring of the eminent, CFC have no Champions League to offer. Nor are they a part of any other European tournaments in 2023/24, for that matter. Nevertheless, Mauricio Pochettino’s recruitment team supposedly have the go ahead from hierarchy to pursue the World Cup winner. There will be competition from Madrid and Saudi Arabia, along with Premier League clubs like Arsenal. He might also end up staying at PSG and this will be remembered as hearsay merely because he’s not on their preseason tour.
