Chelsea have managed to put together nothing short of a brilliant window thus far.

But they could undo their work by simply doing too much of it. Chelsea should not be trying to add many more players. They certainly shouldn’t be trying to add another £100 million player to a squad that doesn’t have enough available gametime to develop the already expensive talents within it.

To undo their good business because of a restless need to spend money would be a shame. The hardest thing to do in life is to exercise self-control and discipline but in this instance, it is what Chelsea needs to do more than anything.

If they need to spend £100,000,000 right now and they can’t simply sit with it. I’d suggest they put it in a high-yield ETF perhaps one that the Clearlake and Guggenheim gentleman can find.

It goes without saying that the situation was bad last season.

Chelsea had finished 12th, burned through four managers, fired a medical staff pre-emptively, and spent €600 million on players only to end up with a squad so large they couldn’t all stay in shape (some of them even refused to, an act of unprofessionalism which should not go unpunished). To further the burden of embarrassment they even had to make an additional dressing room to house all the players they couldn’t fit into their £30 million training base.

But saying things have looked positive since then would be an understatement.

The Blues signed one of the only managers who could turn this ship around and one who some might say is perfect for the new younger and developing squad that Chelsea has assembled.

Pochettino is one of the best managers alive and a good development and youth mentor is exactly the sort of coach Chelsea need.
