I in particular am a fan of Cherki and every single time I’ve seen Olise play I’ve enjoyed him and have an appreciation for the fact that technically he’s a Chelsea academy player.

Kudus I don’t know enough about to comment outside of the few fantastic bits of left-footed play I have seen from him.

If Chelsea were going to add one I’d lean towards Cherki but I’d still let him stay at Lyon for the season.

Given the amount of game time available at Chelsea this season Chelsea simply needs to stop adding players. With this being Pochettino’s first season the Blues haven’t even allowed the opportunity for the players they already have to blend yet.

A season of growth, blending, and molding should be seen through before yet more talent is added to the side.

Only 11 players will be able to end up playing and spending huge sums on young players only to have their potential lessened by not gaining experience in the all-important 17-20 year old window would be poor business in multiple areas.

If Chelsea can move on Romelu Lukaku and Ziyech this season then maybe a single further player is all the squad could sustain. But more than that and Chelsea would be buying their way back into the problem that they just solved.

The Blues are moving in a good direction at the moment and Pochettino will build a squad unified in their purpose and direction. That will make the squad even easier to read in the future when maybe further additions will be appropriate. At that point, the needs and wants will be more clear and so will the strengths and weaknesses. But without having played any matches in full-fledged pressure situations the current setup simply doesn’t know what the right moves will be with any sort of certainty.

They have enough talent in both the squad and the youth team to play this season and qualify for the Champions League while making cup runs as well.

Often in life, the hardest thing to do is to do nothing but now is the time when Chelsea should feel happy knowing they earned the opportunity to do the hard thing.
