Pochettino makes decision on Gallagher’s Chelsea future
Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has supposedly made a decision on midfielder Conor Gallagher’s Blues future ahead of an important season.
Gallagher has that special something in midfield, if you ask me. He could definitely become a permanent Premier League starter. But none of us know yet what calibre of club he’ll eventual be a regular for – not even him. Staying at Chelsea has its risks as he isn’t guaranteed constant first team football, though he is seemingly in Pochettino’s thoughts.
The 23-year-old can execute a number of roles up and down midfield, we’ve seen that at high levels. He even has the capacity to score quite a few goals in the top tier, as witnessed on loan at Crystal Palace. I wasn’t at all surprised to hear ‘Poch reveal’ that Gallagher is in CFC plans.
Chelsea star Reece James details frustration at last campaign and admits some players didn’t want to be at Stamford Bridge
James wasn’t best pleased with his beloved club’s display and achievements, or lack of, last season. The defender made that very clear in an interview during the Blues’ present Tour of the United States. Although, he himself missed much of the term through fitness and injury problems. Ironically, not having the England international obviously harmed the team as well.
Essentially James appears to question the drive, commitment and will of a number of now departed CFC footballers. He even stated that the unnamed athletes ‘didn’t want to be’ on Fulham Road in 2022/23. The 23-year-old said it was the toughest year he’s had as a professional, which is understandable.
However, now the rightback believes that the side is heading in the right direction. He adds that spectators can probably see that in performances. Chels‘ have played two preseason friendlies so far, winning both versus Wrexham and Brighton & Hove Albion respectively. Newcastle United are the next opponents on Thursday.
