The Argentine would’ve expected to know who he will be partnered up with in midfield already but the Blues seem to have made no progress on the Caicedo deal and uncertainty grows with time. However Fernandez’s role will not diminish no matter who arrives and will be integrated in the squad in the upcoming games.

Central Midfield: Cesare Casadei (Italy)

Latest reports suggest that Gallagher might’ve played his last game for the club. West Ham United, one of the clubs interested in the English International seem to have already bid for the midfielder. This means that Casadei and Santos will have to up their game as they could be looking at regular minutes with the first team this season.

Central Attacking Midfield: Christopher Nkunku (France)

Mohammed Kudus is apparently very close to signing for CFC and his arrival will push Jackson/Nkunku to the flanks. The duo have been restricted to the no.9 role so far but after a  promising start to life at Chelsea, Pochettino might want to field them together up top.
