At the start of the summer, it was indicated that Chelsea will look for a midfield revolution after numerous exits in the span of a year. Chelsea finally seem to be getting somewhere with their pursuits of Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia and Tyler Adams.

Since January, CFC have managed to sell or offload Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mateo Kovacic, leaving the central midfield scarce and out of depth. In the same time, the Blues have signed Enzo Fernandez, Cesare Casadei, Andrey Santos and Lesley Ugochukwu. Santos, Ugochukwu and Casadei are inexperienced and cannot be made regular starters.

Chelsea needed to sign competent midfielders with some experience. CFC have maintained their stance of Caicedo being their top target for the summer window. However, the negotiations between Chelsea and Brighton are proceeding very slowly despite continues contact and discussions.

Caicedo’s personal terms with Chelsea are not expected to be a problem as the Ecuador international is happy to join the Blues and has already given his green light for the move. CFC want to get the deal done under £80 million but the Seagulls are holding onto their £100 million valuation.

According to football.london, the Blues have seen three bids rejected for Caicedo. Chelsea are now expected to submit their fourth offer for the 21 year old and there is optimism that the fourth offer will be enough to seal the deal for Caicedo.

Southampton midfielder Lavia, has been on CFC’s list this summer but Liverpool seemed to be the leading contenders for the Belgian midfielder. LFC have seen their three bids rejected for Lavia as Southampton hold onto their £50 million valuation. According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have submitted a formal bid of £48 million for the 19 year old.

The West London outfit have had a major breakthrough in Adams’ chase as the player is on his way to Stamford Bridge. According to Romano, an agreement has been reached with Adams’ agent and medical tests would follow soon. Chelsea have activated the £20 million relegation clause in the USMNT midfielder’s contract and the player is now on his way to CFC.

The midfield revolution is finally taking shape as there is optimism over Caicedo deal and Adams’ transfer has been sealed. As for Lavia’s chase, CFC will have to tussle with Liverpool as Southampton have not accepted any offers yet for the 19 year old midfielder. As per Daily Star, the Saints are going to reject Chelsea’s offer for Lavia but the Blues are free to have another go at signing the Belgian.
