Central midfield: Enzo Fernandez

Enzo Fernandez was one of the most influential players in the Chelsea side in the second half of the last season. The Argentine featured in all games since his move from Benfica and rarely had an off day despite the team not switching on. Fernandez would enjoy playing with much more freedom but for that CFC need to sign a No.6 and are close to signing Moises Caicedo.

Central midfield: Conor Gallagher

With Caicedo not yet signed (at the time of writing), Gallagher would be the ideal choice and probably the best option available for Pochettino. The Englishman is a hard worker and provides intensity in the engine room. The 23 year old has been linked with a move away but given the wafer thin depth in the midfield, it is likely that the Englishman remains at the club and plays an important role in the midfield for the West London outfit.

Attacking midfield: Christopher Nkunku

Although the former RB Leipzig attacker has suffered a knee injury that has ruled him out for four months, the Frenchman would easily be the first choice when fit. Nkunku offers a lot more than just being an attacking midfielder. He has proven to be an effective goal getter by playing behind the striker and with him in the No.10 role, a lot of play would pass through him.
