Malo Gusto (76′): 6.5/10
Gusto was OK for his Premier League and Chelsea debut. He won 2/2 ground duels and made one successful tackle. His passing was good, but he didn’t do much in the final third.
Ian Maatsen (81′): N/A
Maatsen didn’t do much when he came on, but again it was indicative that Pochettino did not bring him on to play left back.
Mykhailo Mudryk (81′): N/A
Mudryk did look good when he came on, but he’s too much of a dribbler and he needs to look out for more passing options, rather than always look for who to take on. He did complete 2/2 dribbles though, so this may be a bad time to make this point.
Leslie Ugochuwkwu (90′): N/A
I mean he came on in the 90th minute.
Mauricio Pochettino, Manager: 8/10
Pochettino was commendable in his first competitive match as Chelsea’s manager. His decision to start Axel Disasi turned out to be a stroke of genius. His choice of the back three was also very good, as it helped the Blues tactically, ensuring they didn’t get sliced open as often as they could have. His substitutions were more effective than not, as Mudryk and Gusto brought something positive, but Ugochukwu and Maatsen were needless.
