Chelsea want to hijack Liverpool for a second signing after securing Moises Caicedo, a player also previously desperately desired by the Reds. The Pride of London discuss Romeo Lavia as Mauricio Pochettino aims to get another step ahead of rival Premier League boss Jurgen Klopp.

Chelsea are getting stronger. Although only a draw, elements of the performance and grit against Liverpool on Sunday were refreshing. The Blues wasted a year, but this season may be more prosperous. Enzo Fernandes has now proven that he is a big six-level star, if we didn’t know that already after his World Cup displays. Raheem Sterling seems re-energised. Nicolas Jackson looks promising. Ben Chilwell and Reece James are fit, at the moment. Christopher Nkunku will be back at some point. There was even a debut goal from centreback Axel Disasi. And Pochettino is perfectly presiding exactly how CFC supporters would envision, expect and wish him to.

A few more quality signings at Stamford Bridge and people will be asking the top four question again, arguably prematurely. Nevertheless, talent continues to come through the door; some fresh faces are for the future, while others are ready to take the English top-flight by storm. Romeo Lavia sits neatly between the two sections. Dramatically, he has supposedly chosen west London over Merseyside. That is according to highly trusted source The Athletic; the fee for the exciting young Belgian should be around £50million.

The ins and outs of Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo signing

Caicedo is now a Blue. Wow, that development was a very long time in coming. CFC pipped Liverpool to the former Brighton man; Chelsea will also wrap up a reported agreement for Lavia at the Reds’ expense. The Blues paid an eye-watering £100m for the midfielder; the fee may rise to £115m, which would be a British club record.
