Last January during their spending spree in the winter transfer period, the biggest headline signing that Chelsea made was when they signed Argentinian midfielder Enzo Fernández from the Portuguese club Benfica. The 22-year-old signed a deal worth a whopping €121m. In a limited sample size last season Fernandez at times showed promise, but failed to make a big impact on any of the games he played in.

Today was a different story. Fernández looked poised and in control of the game while playing against Liverpool. He was constantly on the ball controlling the game, making crisp long and short passes to his teammates. The Blues are hoping that this is a sign of things to come because if they want to get back on track, Fernández having a successful second season in London will be crucial.
