Chelsea Football Club are set to play the second game of their ongoing Premier League season against West Ham. The Blues will travel to the London Stadium a week after they drew against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge. While Chelsea managed to get a point from that game, the team looked good and was close to registering a victory on some occasions.

However, with seven days gone by since that game, Chelsea must now put the last game’s result behind them and focus on the test West Ham will offer. West Ham, too, began their Premier League campaign with a draw against Bournemouth. While the Blues will be expected to win this clash, they can’t afford to take their opponents lightly.

Chelsea will need to start the right players if they want to earn three points on Sunday. In this article, we will look at the 3 Blues who must start in the game against West Ham.

3 Chelsea players who must start against West Ham

Nicolas Jackson

In what was his Premier League debut, Nicolás Jackson did reasonably well against a massive team like Liverpool. During the game, Jackson showed incredible pace and was able to get behind Liverpool’s defenders. This was indeed a positive sign considering it was the 22-year-old’s first-ever match in England.

This is a reason why Chelsea must start the young striker. By adding Jackson to the starting eleven, Mauricio Pochettino will be boosting the player’s morale along with allowing him to gain much-needed experience. Putting the Senegalese player in such situations will help Chelsea build a solid striker for the future.

Axel Disasi

When the news of Wesley Fofana’s injury was made public knowledge, Chelsea fans feared who would replace the player. While the names of several center-backs did the rounds, Chelsea eventually signed Axel Disasi from Monaco. Since then, many wondered if he would be able to provide Chelsea with the stability needed in defense.

In the last game, Disasi proved he was the right man for the job. Not only did the French international look strong defensively, but he also helped Chelsea in a major way. Disasi scored the club’s only goal against Liverpool, which helped the former draw the game. Against West Ham’s attack, it will be interesting to see how Disasi would do.

Enzo Fernandez

Last season was disappointing for Chelsea FC, and Enzo Fernandez could not show much of his abilities due to the same. However, it seems like the Argentine midfielder is making up for what he couldn’t display earlier. Not only does Fernandez look good, but he also seems to be the leader on the pitch.

Against Liverpool in the last game, the World Cup winner was crucial in launching some of the attacks. Fernandez did very well to create some brilliant passes and displayed excellent vision in doing so. His link-up play with the likes of Raheem Sterling and Reece James earned praise from fans and pundits. It will be interesting to see what he does against West Ham.
