LONDON, ENGLAND – AUGUST 20: Moises Caicedo of Chelsea looks on from the substitute bench prior to the Premier League match between West Ham United and Chelsea FC at London Stadium on August 20, 2023 in London, England. (Photo by Julian Finney/Getty Images) /

Conor Gallagher – 4/10

If the second goal was Disasi’s fault, the first was Gallagher’s. Got caught watching Aguerd’s header and did absolutely nothing to try and stop it. He did not look great going forward either and looked to be an initial line of defense before the back four defenders. With Lavia and Caicedo coming into this side, Gallagher’s position and role must be in question.

Nicolas Jackson – 6/10

Again made some excellent runs into the box and looked a force to be reckoned with. He couldn’t get on the end of a few decent balls into the box, but gave defenders a lot to worry about. Jackson still has untapped potential that hopefully becomes more honed as the season goes on.

SUBSTITUES

Mykhailo Mudryk – 4/10

Did not look threatening whenever he was in possession. Needed to attack defenders one on one more using his pace, but he didn’t show that. A few missed crosses, a few bad slips and one shot that was completely mistimed, Mudryk showed he still has a ways to go before solidifying himself as Pchettino’s preferred option.

Noni Madueke – 5/10

Noni was not able to do much with the minutes he was allowed. A few decent passes and crosses, but otherwise not much to write home about with his season debut.

Moises Caicedo – 3/10

Caicedo’s debut couldn’t have gone worse for him. A few feeble passes, but otherwise looked shaky defensively. Caicedo also gave away the final penalty of the match. Certainly needs more time to train and adapt with this squad to be the player Chelsea fought for all summer.

Mason Burstow – N/A

Came in late into the match. Offered a few good runs in the box but otherwise did not get enough time to do anything more.
