The potential for an opportunistic Chelsea raid on London rivals Arsenal for the transfer of goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale would obviously raise the same problems at Stamford Bridge that the Gunners already caused for themselves. The proposal is so madcap that the modern Blues recruitment department may well do it!

Chelsea No.1 Robert Sanchez may have a rival to be top stopper on Fulham Road soon enough. Ironically, Ramsdale has the same issue at Arsenal due to the arrival of David Raya at Emirates Stadium. If the Englishman were to move across the capital – reports suggest the Blues are keen – he would find himself merely on the opposite side of the same predicament.

I see Ramsdale as only slightly ahead of the pair of very talented Spaniards. The AFC man just seems to pull off the impossible in goal occasionally. And he is functional in a modern sense: with feet. Whereas the duo from Spain are very difficult to split, I say this in a complimentary way. Maybe this is one for the Blues to avoid. Yet I wouldn’t be surprised if Chels’ go for the 25-year-old.

Chelsea ownership sweat on results of £2billion Stamford Bridge expansion plans

We all know that the CFC owners are intent on improving and increasing the size of the ground. However, there is a nervous wait for the bosses at the moment. This is because we are at the culmination of two months of talks with local residents; results are ‘imminently‘ due.

Although, the proposed works have received a ‘boost’ according to the above linked report. The scale of proposition is significant here: the Blues want their west London home’s capacity to increase from 42,000 to at least 55,000 spectators. If CFC don’t improve on the pitch over the next while, they will struggle to fill the seats they already have.
