Unai Emery’s promising side Aston Villa travelled to the Bridge to face Mauricio Pochettino’s struggling Blues. As usual, Chelsea started the game strong, enjoying possession and winning the ball back instantly to create beautiful chances. But the same problems persist – the final third. CFC did not put their chances to bed and even after the sending off, they continued to miss every opportunity that came their way and ended up gifting the Villans all three points.

Chelsea player ratings

Robert Sanchez: 9/10

The Spaniard single handedly kept Chelsea in the game. Although the supporters believed that he wasn’t good enough and there were better options out there. Sanchez has proved his metal over the last few games and may not have to worry about his spot when Arrizabalaga returns from Madrid next season.

Malo Gusto: 4/10

Gusto looked promising creating decent chances in the first half. But we can safely say that if not for that debatable red card, we’d not let Villa leave with any points.

Axel Disasi: 7/10

Disasi did manage to put the ball in the net but just like all the other CFC attackers, he was offside. He didn’t have to contribute enough in the first half and was not to be seen until the sending off. He adapted well and looked threatening on that right flank.

Thiago Silva: 6.5/10

For the veteran, it was business as usual. Nothing extra ordinary but a solid performance from the 39 year old.
