No leadership in Chelsea squad

Chelsea’s on-field narrative this season has unfortunately been marred by a deficiency in clinical finishing, which has ultimately cost the team valuable points. Once again, they managed to create opportunities against Aston Villa, but faltered when it came to maintaining composure within the 18-yard box.

Both Chilwell and Fernandez squandered excellent chances, while Sterling and Jackson lacked the necessary ruthlessness to convert any opportunities that came their way. To compound matters, the one time The Blues did find the net, it was disallowed for offside—much like the scenario against Bournemouth last week.

However, what if I tell you the biggest problem isn’t how bad CFC is in front of the goal. The problem stems from the lack of leadership at the club. Just because someone is wearing the armband doesn’t mean they’re a leader. Once Chelsea senses there’s any sort of pressure, and they end up conceding first, they hit the panic button and it’s already game over.

Next. Chelsea 0-1 Aston Villa: Blues player ratings. dark

We’ve seen countless times of top clubs such as Arsenal, Tottenham, Man United, and Liverpool this season come back from behind despite how poor they were. They have genuine leaders who won’t let others drop their heads. What we see at Chelsea are inexperienced players with captains that seem to rotate every game. The Blues picked up five points after six games – five points in six!
