3. Armando Broja

Despite Nicolas Jackson’s signing and initial fan excitement about his pre-season performances, Chelsea still has a striker problem. Jackson currently has one goal in six league games and his preseason form has not translated to the Premier League.  His finishing in particular has been incredibly underwhelming in one vs one situations, lacking a clinical nature to save the Blues on numerous occasions so far.

That’s why the return of Armando Broja from injury after nearly a year couldn’t have come at a better time.  The Armenian striker has been long known to have the potential to be Chelsea’s permanent solution at the No.9 position but due to injuries he has rarely had enough opportunity to find his footing.

Broja could bring a different element to this Chelsea attack, operating as a traditional No.9 compared to the more fluid Jackson. The team has become a team that heavily cross the ball from the flanks and Broja is more of an imposing figure that can bring goals aerially. The Cobham graduate is also quite technical and not wasteful in taking his chances in the box, possessing that clinical nature and ruthlessness that almost the entire CFC squad lack at the moment.

Luckily for the returnee, he won’t have to wait that long for his chance to impress.  The Stamford Bridge side face Brighton in third round of the EFL Cup for their next game and Pochettino should be looking to bench an out of form Jackson. In addition, the Armenian striker is basically guaranteed a starting spot in Chelsea’s next Premier League match against Fulham due to Jackson’s yellow card suspension in the game against Aston Villa.
