Following yet another disappointing Chelsea defeat, this time to Premier League side Aston Villa, Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino ironically criticised the Blues players. The Pride of London explain and opine on another negative situation that the Argentine and his misfiring squad may struggle to overcome due to one glaringly obviously reason.

I am unsure if it was intended or just a laughable coincidence, but Pochettino made what I would describe as an oxymoron of a statement after the unexpected – but predictable in hindsight – loss to the Villans. Poch is an assured and astute head coach, yet he has his hands full with a CFC’s unpredictable and unprecedented youthful recruitment policy. Not to mention the managerial duties of addressing a baying media pack subsequent and consequent to an everlasting procession of setbacks.

The latest press conference managed to culminate in the former Tottenham Hotspur gaffer stating that his immature group of men must figuratively grow up. This is a bit rich – excuse the obvious Clearlake Capital pun – considering that the averaging age of the Blues roster is said to be a mere 23 years of age approximately. Apparently this is the youngest squad in the English top-flight. Wow. Evidently the 51-year-old has a point, albeit an impractical one. He did, however, appear to allude to his own displeasure or confusion at a policy which wholeheartedly aims for the up-and-coming in a presser during the preseason. Hopefully the team can find this advancement ahead of schedule. Although, I would not keep my hopes up for much joy this campaign, CFC fans.

Premature talk of Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly sacking Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino this early into a difficult project

OK, it’s only some Villa supporters presently ironising about a Pochettino dismissal, but you can expect publicity-seeking pundits and possibly a few Chels‘ loyalists’ patience to begin to wane concerning ‘Poch’.

"Aston Villa supporters told Mauricio Pochettino that he will be ‘sacked in the morning’ during the Villans’ clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon."
