Chelsea has gathered five points from six league games this season, a start that follows from the abysmal end-of-season form last season. The Blues are still in the cups though, and that means they welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to the Bridge on Wednesday in a game that promises to be eventful, if nothing else. Malo Gusto is now out for this one due to suspension, so who does Mauricio Pochettino give the nod ahead of the EFL Cup third round tie against the Seagulls?

Dorde Petrovic (Goalkeeper) Chelsea No. 28, Serbia

Chelsea has three goalkeepers registered to the senior team, and this is as good a time as any to see what Petrovic is about. Yes, it is versus Brighton, who has been formidable in the past 18 months. Yet ‘Poch’ is touted as trusting of young players, so I fully expect to see a full debut for the shot-stopper.

Moises Caicedo (Right back) No. 25, Ecuador

Caicedo will need to come in as a right back due to Reece James’s injury and Gusto’s suspension. He has played right back for his old club occasionally as well, so while he would still be out of position, it would not particularly be strange for him.

Axel Disasi (Centerback) No. 2, France

Disasi has been one of Chelsea’s more consistent players this season. He wasn’t great against Aston Villa, but context has to be applied as the home side went a man down. Disasi’s aerial dominance would be key, especially against a Seagulls team that is not vertically blessed.
